Welcome to the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Al-Kitab University.
The Department of Petroleum Engineering has been established based on its active role in supporting the oil and gas industry in Iraq with a distinguished cadre of engineers equipped with knowledge and modern technology in the field of the oil industry. This department is considered to be a consultative center concerned with problems related to oil fields and crude oil refineries, which helps to solve problems and develop its performance in a way that boosts the country’s economy. This Department also enjoys its special location in the oil-rich city of Kirkuk which is considered to be the first city in Iraq where oil had been produced in 1927 and its proximity to the northern cities in which oil and gas have been recently discovered. This situation calls for more oil engineers to support the oil and gas industry for at least thirty years. By setting up this department, in this location, we will offer chances of employment and labor in the oil and gas industry that support the economy of our great country) Iraq).
Access to the results of the corresponding departments in the field of oil engineering in discreet universities and contribute to the development of fields related to oil engineering through conducting scientific research and practical experiences and graduating a cadre of engineers capable of taking responsibility in order to push the progress of the oil industry forward and also revive the Iraqi economy.
The department becomes one of the best departments at the local and regional levels by providing distinguished university education by raising the level of performance of the department’s employees and providing academic research to teaching masters and filling the country’s needs of specialized engineering cadres and at a level and standards that correspond to renewable global developments in the field of specialization.
- Work to graduate competent engineers with a sufficient amount of basic knowledge in all subjects of this study.
- Developing the student’s scientific and research capabilities.
- Providing technical consultations and scientific service in the oil and gas production industry.
- Raising the level of workers in this specialty by holding continuing education courses and conducting scientific and applied research.
- Providing a solid university education in the specialty of Petroleum Engineering.
- Encourage faculty members in the department to do applied research and studies in the fields of specialization and provide appropriate solutions to problems.
- Providing studies and consultations for oil and gas companies in the field of specialization.
- Holding scientific courses, seminars and conferences in the field of petroleum engineering at the college level, laboratory development and qualification so that they are ready to conduct specialized research and studies.
- Qualifying faculty members by participating in seminars and specialized courses inside and outside Iraq.
