 Welcome to the College of Dentistry

            Welcome to the College of Dentistry at Al-Kitab University. The Department of Dentistry is one of the important departments at Al-Kitab University College, which was established in the academic year 2016-2017. The department is concerned with the use of modern theoretical, practical and clinical methods in dentistry. The duration of study in the department is five years, and the graduates are granted a bachelor’s degree in dentistry.

            The Department of Dentistry is interested in building specialized knowledge of the student in the field of modern dentistry, and is interested in the quality of education and its outputs. It has faculty members with high degrees and scientific titles qualified in the academic and practical fields.

The mission of the Department of Dentistry at Al-Kitab University College is to direct and adapt all its resources to achieve excellence in education, research and patient care, to contribute to the improvement of oral and dental health, the prevention of diseases throughout Iraq, to provide services and medical care in the field of dentistry. All this can be achieved through prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of oral, dental, facial and maxillofacial diseases.

            This mission includes key elements in improving oral and dental health care in Iraq that include education, scientific research, continuing education, community service, professional qualification in dental science, effective contribution to scientific research and community service through an stimulating environment for the acquisition and production of knowledge in dentistry. It also aims at optimizing technology, and building local and global partnerships.

Our vision in the Department of Dentistry at Al-Kitab University College is to be known as a future leader in dental education, and the ability to produce sound scientific research in the Middle East. We look forward to seeing the Department of Dentistry as a medical institution recognized at the Arab and international level with innovative educational programs that serve the diverse segments of society through a highly skilled graduates capable of communicating, dealing with and caring for the patient.

The Department of Dentistry at Al-Kitab University College aims at:

  1. 1. Preparing generations of dentists, specialists, consultants and experts in various fields of dentistry.

  2. Utilizing the human resources of the department and its medical and research capabilities, and the expertise of faculty members, professors and graduates to solve the problems of society in the field of dentistry.

  3. 3. Organizing scientific symposia, conferences, workshops, scientific meetings and continuing medical education courses related to the fields of dentistry inside and outside Iraq, with the aim of exchanging information and working to raise the scientific level of the workers in the field of oral and dental medicine.

.4  Being a pioneer in the region with international features in the production of modern knowledge in dentistry.

  1. Providing students with the basic sciences, behavior and skills necessary to start practicing the profession of dentistry and promote oral health care in the community, and the graduation of qualified dentists capable of providing quality and comprehensive health care.

  2. 6. Achieving the conditions and requirements of local and international academic accreditation.

  3. Building and supporting an environment suitable to scientific research for students and faculty members, and strengthening partnerships and agreements with local and international institutions to improve oral and dental health by addressing health issues of concern to all segments of society.

  4. Providing scientific consultations in the specialized fields to the relevant institutions in Iraq.

  5. 9. Spreading cultural awareness and attention to the maintenance of oral and dental health in Iraq, in its governorates, districts and villages.

  6. Encouraging the process of writing and translating books in the field of oral and dental medicine and all related fields, and conducting scientific studies to develop aspects of applied practice.

The Department of Dentistry is one of the important departments at Al-Kitab University , which was established in the academic year 2016-2017. The department is concerned with the use of modern theoretical, practical and clinical methods in dentistry. The duration of study in the department is five years, and the graduates are granted a bachelor’s degree in dentistry.

The department is interested in building  specialized knowledge of the student in the field of modern dentistry, and is interested in the quality of education and its outputs. It has highly qualified staff in the academic and practical fields.

The department has study rooms with a total capacity for 208 students, equipped with projectors and air conditioners, ready for theoretical lecturing, in addition to specialized dental laboratories for the first stage (general anatomy, dental dissection, dental industry, medical physics, medical chemistry, medical life science), as well as for a computer lab. As for the second stage, there are many laboratories for (dental industry, dental materials, tissues and oral tissues, physiology, embryos, anatomy and biochemistry).

The number of students accepted in the Department for the academic year 2016-2017 at its first opening is 219 students.
