CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Iraq

The International Scientific Conference on Women, War and Peacemaking in the Middle East will be held 1-2 / 10/2019 at Al-Kitab University / Iraq.

The conference is organized in collaboration with the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Lund University (Sweden), and the Swedish-Iraqi Studies Network SISNet.

OBJECTIVES

The conference aims to bring together, scholars and practitioners interested in women’s issues and the Middle East.

Researchers and practitioners are invited to send abstracts of their research in Arabic or English that address the themes of the conference. Abstracts are not to exceed 500 words and should be accompanied by a biography of each author of no more than 300 words.

:Suggested Conference Themes

Women and violence in the Middle East.
Women in post-conflict development.
Sexual violence against women in times of conflict.
International law and the protection women and children during armed conflict.
Social and psychological impact of armed conflicts on women.
Women, transitional justice, and post-conflict resolution.
Women and terrorism in the Middle East.
Women’s representation in media during and after conflict.
Impact of displacement and forced displacement on women.

:Publishing

Articles written in English and accepted after the peer-review process will   be published in the Nidaba Journal at Lund University, Sweden.
